Setting master data

Setup Master Data

In a Warehouse Management System (WMS), setting up initial data (Master Data) is an important step to enable efficient and accurate operational activities. The purpose of setting up this data is to prepare a solid foundation for processes such as inbound (receiving), outbound (shipping), inventory counting, and other warehouse management functions.

The Master Data includes fundamental information about the warehouse, the shipper/consignor, value-added services, goods/items, storage locations, and mobile handling equipment within the warehouse.

The Main Components in Master Data:

  1. Warehouse Setup

Update information in the list of warehouses. Warehouse information is linked with the warehouse list in Commerce Layer to synchronize order data by each warehouse.

  1. Consignor Setup

Create/Edit the consignor’s information (the client sending goods and using the warehouse services) and instructions for retrieving integration information.

  1. Value-Added Service Setup

Main function: create/ view/ edit/ delete value-added services during order fulfillment, divided into two main groups: Package Service & Shipment Service.

  1. Goods/Items Setup

Update detailed information about each type of item in the warehouse.

  1. Storage Location Setup

Update the storage locations of goods in the warehouse and print location labels. When shipping or receiving goods, the storage location data in the WMS will be used to suggest put-away and picking strategies.

  1. Used to set up Barcode/QR Code for mobile handling equipment to move goods within the warehouse.
